LAKE LILLIAN -- Allan Dean Junkermeier, 79, of Lake Lillian died Sunday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rosendale Methodist Church, rural Atwater. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 8 p.m., at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Masonic Cancer Center Fund in Roseville.

He was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Granite Falls to Alvin and Evelyn (Olson) Junkermeier. They moved to the Lake Lillian/Atwater area where they farmed. He graduated from Atwater High School in 1946 and continued his education at Augsburg College.

He married Betty Mae Berg on Dec. 21, 1949, in Willmar. He started farming with his father and purchased the farm in 1957. Then he farmed with his son, Stacy. He was also a surveyor for ASC and a state fire marshal.

He served as the Lake Elizabeth Township clerk for 39 years and served for nine years on the Atwater School Board, including a term as chair. He was a member of the Masons, belonging to Orion Lodge 138 in Atwater.

He is survived by his wife; four children: Ken Junkermeier of Scottsdale, Ariz., Nancy (and Steve) Norbie of Willmar, Jeff Junkermeier of Minnetonka, and Stacy (and Kim) Junkermeier of Lake Lillian; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers: George (and Ruth) Junkermeier of Willmar and Larry (and Lynn) Junkermeier of White Bear Lake.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
