ORTONVILLE -- Error-prone Granite Falls won on Saturday but lost Sunday in the Region 9C amateur baseball tournament.

Despite seven errors, the Kilowatts triumphed over Morris on Saturday 11-5. But on Sunday, at Ortonville, six errors and a lack of hitting in the clutch led to a 7-2 loss to the host team.

Kilowatts manager Mike Richter said the most likley scenario now is that his team will meet the Wheaton/Milroy loser at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, in Milroy.

"The weather was certainly a factor on Saturday," said Richter. "It misted all day. (Mike) Adelman (Morris's drafted pitcher from Clinton) struggled with his control and we had some mishaps in the field."

As far as Sunday's miscues, Richter thought it might have been a combination of the team's youth and the distraction of repeated failures to bring home runners in scoring position inning after inning.

The Kilowatts took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth, but the rest of the way Ortonville would dominate the scoreboard.

Nate Hebrink, draftee from Raymond, allowed seven hits through 6Zc innings, but only one of the six runs off him was earned.

James Gallagher had three of the Kilowatt's six hits. Chad Listul drove in both Granite Falls runs with RBI singles in both the fourth and fifth innings.

Saturday's game

Granite Falls 11, Morris 5

(At Morris) -- The tournament started poorly for the Kilowatts when veteran right-hander Curt Kvam had to leave the game after facing only one batter with a nagging shoulder injury that limited his time this season and kept him out all of 2006.

Jeremy Wieland took over with one out in the first and pitched a stout game in the rain, walking one while scattering nine hits for the win.

It was 4-4 after six when Granite Falls got to Adelman for three singles and four walks before Andy Lembcke relieved in a six-run Kilowatt inning.

Craig Listul went 3-for-5 for Granite Falls.
