WILLMAR -- Andrew Woodrow Johnson, 90, of Willmar died Monday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Military honors...

WILLMAR -- Andrew Woodrow Johnson, 90, of Willmar died Monday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Military honors will be provided by the Willmar American Legion Post 167.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born June 22, 1918, in Stockholm Township, Meeker County, to John and Alice (Sand) Johnson. He grew up and received his education in Cokato. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific and received two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.

He married Doris E. Johnson on Jan. 12, 1943. They lived and farmed in the Litchfield area from 1949 to 1982. He retired in 1982, and they moved to Willmar.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Litchfield where he served for many years as the financial secretary. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Willmar American Legion post and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife; children: Susan (and Byron) Manthey of Hutchinson, Dennis (and Lisa) Johnson of Minneapolis and Marcia Holguin of Willmar; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings: Grace Farnquist of Prior Lake, Hazel Wittenberg of Litchfield and Donald Johnson of Litchfield.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
