LITCHFIELD -- Annette Mathilde Buenting, 94, of Litchfield died Sunday at Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Burial will be at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

She was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Calhoun County, Iowa, to Harm and Trentje (Bohlen) Kleen. She attended public schools in Calhoun County and studied music and organ St. Mary's School of in Pomeroy and in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

She married Herman Buenting on Dec. 20, 1933, in Pomeroy. She helped Herman throughout his ministry. They moved to Courtland in 1933 and served many congregations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. She served as church organist, led choirs, gave piano and organ lessons, taught Sunday school and Bible school, and worked at a nursing home in Barrett. They retired in 1976 and moved to Litchfield. Herman died in 1997. She moved to Emmaus Place in 2002 and later to Emmanuel Home.

She is survived by her children: Kathy of Litchfield, Jim (and Ruth) of Regina, Saskatchewan; and many grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law: Richard Warmbier; and seven siblings.
