APPLETON -- Residents in the Upper Minnesota River Valley will have an opportunity to help plan for Minnesota's future as the state prepares to observe its sesquicentennial in 2008.
The Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission will hold a public meeting from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Appleton Veterans of Foreign Wars post. It is an opportunity for residents in Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Swift and Yellow Medicine counties to offer their ideas and share their values with the state's future in mind.
Minnesota's Sesquicentennial Commission is helping host similar meetings around the state to answer the questions: "What type of state do you want to leave to your children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren? And, given where we're at right now, and the trends we see, what are the key issues and challenges we have to deal with to make that future real?''
