Area high school trap shooters to compete

ALEXANDRIA -- Teams from several area schools will be among those competing when Alexandria hosts the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League's 2014 opening this weekend.

ALEXANDRIA - Teams from several area schools will be among those competing when Alexandria hosts the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League’s 2014 opening this weekend.
Willmar, New London-Spicer, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, and MACCRAY are among the teams scheduled to compete, according to the competition schedule.
Governor Mark Dayton will attend the opening ceremonies on Friday at the Alexandria Shooting Park in Alexandria.
In all, 3,948 registered student athletes are scheduled to participate in the Championship, June 6-10 making this event the largest youth trapshooting tournament in the world. For five days, student athletes representing 176 Minnesota high schools will compete for individual and team achievements in Novice, Junior Varsity and Varsity classifications, according to information from the league.
