MORRIS - Montevideo pitcher Betsy Zacharias helped her own cause Monday, driving in the winning run as the Thunder Hawks edged Morris Area 7-5 in a West Central South Conference game.
Montevideo (2-1, 2-2) trailed 5-4 entering the seventh inning before Zacharias drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with a single. The junior also got the win after allowing just two earned runs without issuing a walk in going the distance.
Montevideo's Amy Johnson was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle as the senior hit a three-run homer over the left-field fence in the fourth, doubled in the sixth and singled in the seventh.
Jonna Beyer went 3-for-3 for Morris.
