Area students participate in One-Act Play section competition Saturday

Section 2AA

Willmar will be competing in the Section 2AA competition at Marshall. They will perform "The Most Likely Pages."

Section 5A

The 5A competition will be at Sauk Centre High School. Among the eight schools competing will be ACGC High School performing "Check, Please," by Jonathan Rand, and Litchfield High School performing "Aria Da Capo" by Edna St. Vincent Mallay.

Other schools will include Browerville, Annandale, Maple Lake, Glencoe-Silver Lake, Norwood Young America and Sauk Centre.

Section 3A

Section 3A competition will be at Redwood Valley High School in Redwood Falls.

Area schools competing are Lac qui Parle Valley High School performing "Impromptu" by Tad Mosel. Central Minnesota Christian will perform "Baker's Dozen" by Pat Cook. Redwood Valley High School will perform "The Wemmicks," written by director Sarah Crowe based on the book by Max Lucado.

Other schools competing will be Murray County Central in Pipestone, Mountain Lake, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.

State festival

The state One-Act Play Festival will be at O'Shaughnessy Auditorium on the College of St. Catherine campus in St. Paul.

Class AA will compete Feb. 9 with Section 2AA the first performance of the day at 9:15 a.m.

Class A will compete Feb. 10. Section 5A will perform at 11:45 a.m. and Section 3A at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets will be sold at the O'Shaughnessy ticket office. Seating capacity is 1,742. There will be no advance sale of tickets.

Each One-Act Play Festival (Class A and Class AA) will be divided into four sessions of two plays each. There will be an admission charge of $5 for adults and students for each of the four sessions of the Class A and Class AA One Act Play Festival. A daily pass to attend all eight plays will be available for $15.
