CYRUS -- Arlene Amanda Bye, 81, of Cyrus died Sunday at the St. Cloud Hospital.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Nora Lutheran Church in rural Kensington. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

She was born May 22, 1925, in rural Hoffman to Carl and Nancy (Peterson) Backlund. She grew up and attended school in the Hoffman and Kensington areas. She worked various jobs in the area.

She married Raymond Bye on Jan. 19, 1946, near Hoffman. They lived in the Cyrus area and did dairy farming until 1994, when they assisted their son with the operation.

She was a member of Nora Lutheran Church, where she was active in WELCA and the quilter's group.

She is survived by her children: Raylyn (and Ruthie) Bye of Onamia, Larry (and Rita) Bye of Cyrus, Carole Westby of Excelsior, and Patty Bye-Carbert (and Mike Carbert) of Avon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Dorothy (and Arnold) Overgaard of Starbuck, Mary Ann Schopper of Minneapolis and Lois (and Wendell) Brosdahl of Eden Prairie.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law: James Westby; one brother and three sisters.
