APPLETON -- Arnold Eugene Longnecker, 81, of Appleton died Saturday at the Appleton Nursing Home.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Burial will be at the Appleton City Cemetery.

Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris.

He was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Correll to Curtis and Sally (LaLond) Longnecker. He grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton High School. He farmed in the Appleton area.

He married Marlys Koosman on Aug. 26, 1948, in Holloway. They farmed together and then sold the farm and moved to Appleton in 1974. He owned and operated his own snow plowing business and continued to work for area farmers. He later retired.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton, the Ridgerunner's Snowmobile Club and the Appleton Sportsman's Club. He shot a 15-point buck that was listed in Boone and Crocket records.

He is survived by his wife; children: Doug Longnecker of St. Cloud, Dean (and Anita) Longnecker of Morris, Rick Longnecker of Appleton, Lin LaLond of Shakopee, Debbie (and David) Henneberg of Appleton; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law: Cheryl Longnecker, Michelle Lewis; one sister and two infant brothers.
