MORRIS -- Arnold J. Kolden, 83, of Morris died Thursday at SCMC in Morris.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Burial will be at Frog Lake Cemetery in rural Alberta. Military rites will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW, and AmVets.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

He was born Jan. 28, 1923, in Alberta to Hans and Olga (Anderson) Kolden. He grew up and lived near Frog Lake. He attended country school in District 24 and also helped on the family farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944. He served with the 57th Field Artillery Battalion. He was discharged in 1946. He returned to Alberta and farmed until 1948, when he started custom harvesting.

He married Betty Beebe on March 23, 1951, in Morris. They moved to the Boettcher farm in 1952. He also worked for Richard's Produce and at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris. They move to Frog Lake in 1960 and continued to farm. He retired in 1981. They moved to Morris in 2003 and he moved to West Wind Village in 2006.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris and he also served on the Scott Township Board for 21 years.

He is survived by his wife; sons: Arnie (and Debbie) Kolden of Alberta, Jerry (and Deborah) Kolden of Pennock, David (and Lisa) Kolden of Milbank, S.D., Kirk (and Lisa) Kolden of Carlos; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two siblings: Alvina Nelson and Curtis Kolden, both of Morris.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
