WILLMAR -- Arnold Monroe Arntson, 91, of Willmar died Monday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

He was born Sept. 26, 1914, in Brandon to Ole and Louise (Thorson) Arntson. He grew up and received his education in Brandon. He farmed in the area until 1936, when he moved to Ellensburg, Wash. He worked in the dairy business in Washington until February of 1941, when he joined the U.S. Army. He served for 4½ during World War II, with 2½ years in the Pacific arena. He was discharged in 1945 and moved to the Alexandria area.

He married Renetta Krohnfeldt on Oct. 13, 1946, in Leaf Valley. They lived in the Alexandria area and he worked in the dairy industry until 1963. They moved to Willmar in 1965 and he worked as a stationery engineer at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center. He retired in 1980.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar.

He is survived by his wife; children: June (and David) Anderson of Glenwood, Doreen (and Dan) Larson of Spicer, Rod Arntson of Hopkins; two grandsons; and one sister: Doris Essensa of Seattle, Wash.

He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
