GRANITE FALLS -- The Granite Falls Historical Society will have a quilt show from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Andrew J. Volstead Home Museum in Granite Falls. More than 35 quilts will be on display. Admission will be a free will donation.

Swift County

Historical Society

KERKHOVEN -- The Swift County Historical Society museum will a program on Swift County's Civil War Veterans by Tom Rice at 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Kerkhoven Civic Center. Rice has done extensive research on the Civil War Veterans who moved to Swift County. The program will be about the veterans buried in cemeteries in the area.

The annual banquet will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Holloway Community Center. Tickets are $8.50 each and must be purchased by Oct. 4 at the museum in Benson or from a board member.

Story hour

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Public Library will hold a children's story hour from 2 to 2:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 21 through Oct. 26.

Children must be 3 years old or older to attend. The story hour includes picture books, flannelgraph stories, puppetry, fingerplays and movies.

Children are encouraged to check out books before or after the program. The library is located at 410 Fifth St. S.W. in Willmar.

Meth seminar

OLIVIA -- BOLD Community Education will present a seminar on meth use and how it impacts everyone form 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the gym on the Olivia campus. Brian Cruze from Renville County Human Services will speak about what meth is, what clandestine labs are, how to identify meth use and meth labs and how to prevent meth use and manufacture. The seminar is designed for parents, teachers, clergy, healthcare workers, counselors, nurses and others who work with teens and young people. Call BOLD Community Education at 523-1927 to confirm your attendance. $3 fee.

Kandi-Railers show

WILLMAR --The Kandi-Railers will have a model railroad show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Kandi Mall in Willmar. Model railroad owners are invited to bring their layout to the show. For more information call Kevin at 235-7962 or by e-mail at raatz5@charter.net .
