Willmar Area Symphony Orchestra concert is Sunday at WEAC
WILLMAR -- The Willmar Area Symphony Orchestra will present "Romance and the Violin" at 3 p.m. Sunday at WEAC in Willmar. Peter McGuire, first violinist of the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, will be the guest artist. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $5 for children under 12 and $25 for a family pack for two adults and unlimited children. Tickets will be available at the door.
Chorus looking for male singers for special Christmas concert
WILLMAR -- The West Central Connection Barbershop Chorus is looking for male singers to form an area men's choir for its annual Christmas Concert.
The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Evangelical Free Church in Willmar. There will be five Monday rehearsals from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 7, 14, 21, 28, and Dec. 5 at the Willmar Senior Citizen Center on north Business Highway 71. The concert will consist of favorite Christmas carols; no memorization is required. Carpooling can be arranged to and from each rehearsal. For more information call 222-2111. The West Central Connection Chorus consists of more than 30 members from West Central Minnesota who practice at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Willmar Senior Citizen Center. All men who like to sing are encouraged to attend.
Morris classic film festival this weekend
MORRIS -- The seventh annual Classic Film Festival will be Friday through Sunday at the Morris Theatre. The Friday movie is "His Girl Friday" at 7 p.m. There will be two movies on Saturday, "Oliver" at 2 p.m. and "Red River" at 7 p.m. The Sunday movie is "Strangers on a Train" at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door. Tickets are $2 for UMM students, senior citizens and children under the age of 12. General admission is $4. A weekend pass is available for UMM students, senior citizens and children under the age of 12 for $5; the pass is $10 for general admission.

Michelson to present recital at Gustavus
ST. PETER -- Gustavus Adolphus College vocalists Travis Michelson and Kirsten Dumke will present a student recital at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Jussi Bj'rling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus in St. Peter. Michelson, a tenor, will perform works by Haydn, Martini, Durante and a set of solo works by Benjamin Britten includ ing "The Miller of Dee," "The Last Rose of Summer" and the "Foggy, Foggy Dew." He will also perform several duets with Dumke. The two singers will be accompanied by several instrumentalists and a small vocal ensemble. Michelson is a 2003 graduate of Willmar High School and studies voice with Michael Jorgensen.
