Artist reception at Ridgewater
WILLMAR -- There will a closing artists' reception for the Mentor/Protégé display from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Ridgewater College in Willmar.
The program paired three Ridgewater students with three local artists. The students and their mentors were Marisabel Bautista and mentor Bob Mattson; Marty Nelson and mentor Bill Gossman; and Paula Pena and mentor Craig Edwards.
Youth Harmony Festival Saturday
WILLMAR -- The second annual Youth Harmony Festival is scheduled from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Willmar High School.

Around 60 young men from seven area schools will spend the afternoon studying and practicing barbershop music with members of the West Central Connection Chorus.
The day will end with a free performance at 7 p.m. in the high school theater. Also performing will be the West Central Connection Chorus, youth quartets and the Sound Image quartet.
Funding for the festival came in part from the Willmar Area Arts Council.
'Patsy Cline' auditions at The Barn
WILLMAR -- The Barn Theatre will hold auditions for "Always ... Patsy Cline" at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the theatre in Willmar.
There are roles for two females: Patsy Cline, the legendary country singer, age 20 to 30 (flexible) and Louise Seger, a Texas housewife and fan of Patsy Cline, age 40 to 60 (flexible). Call backs are possible for Wednesday.
Performance dates are April 8-11 and 15-18. The production is being directed by Nikki Bettcher Erickson.
Perusal scripts are available for brief checkout at The Barn Theatre box office, weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Irish quartet in New London
NEW LONDON -- The Skilly & Duff Irish Quartet will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Little Theatre in New London. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 at the door.
The ensemble performs traditional Celtic pub music, celebrating the cultural heritage of the Irish and Scots and took first place in the 2009 Minnesota Irish Fair music competition.
The quartet includes Mikko Cowdery of Osakis, Bruce Kelly and Anne O'Flynn of Elbow Lake, and Fiddlin' Sam Steidl of Carlos. The inter-generational band claims a 50-year age difference between their oldest and youngest members.
In September, Cowdery, Kelly and O'Flynn spent several weeks touring southern Ireland, playing in pubs and getting to know local folk performers, as well as adding "new" old material to their repertoire.
DB group hosts entertainment night
DAWSON -- The Dawson-Boyd Arts Association presents a winter night of entertainment with music, dance, coffee and dessert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Auditorium in Dawson.
The Winter Fundraiser Concert will feature Dawson-Boyd High School alumnus Krystal Paige, dancing with Bryan Gastonguay.

The DBHS Jazz Band, under the direction of Kevin Szumal, will perform and will also accompany the dancers for a portion of their program. Paige and Gastonguay met and began dancing together at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay Ballroom Dance Club. They are now competitive ballroom dancers. They moved to Appleton, Wis., in order to continue training with Frank Gillitzer, a nationally-ranked professional dance coach.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Stage Curtain Fund at Memorial Auditorium. Prior to the concert, a variety of desserts and coffee will be served in the lobby. A brief Arts Association annual meeting will kick off the evening.
