WILLMAR -- A 13-year-old boy was killed around 7 p.m. Wednesday in an all-terrain vehicle accident in rural Kandiyohi.
Levi Joseph Marcotte was pinned under the ATV he was driving at his parents' residence along County Road 8 in rural Kandiyohi, according to a news release from Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog.
Deputies arriving at the scene were informed that Marcotte was driving in taller grass, attempted to turn the vehicle and caught the edge of a drainage ditch. The ATV turned over onto its side and pinned the boy underneath and in some water in the ditch.
The release says the boy was unresponsive, not breathing and that CPR was being administered. Marcotte was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar by ambulance and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The accident is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
