OLIVIA — Christopher John Novotny, 32, of Renville, died after suffering injuries in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon north of Olivia at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and Renville County Road 11, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Details are limited but according to the preliminary report, at 12:58 p.m. Thursday, Novotny was driving a 2004 Dodge Intrepid that was going west on County Road 11, and a 2012 Ford truck, driven by Jeffrey Donald Anthony, 55, of New Ulm, was going north on Highway 71. They collided in the intersection.
Anthony suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Olivia Hospital.
Both men were wearing seat belts.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Olivia Police Department, Olivia Fire and Rescue Squad and the Olivia Ambulance responded to the scene.
