GROVE CITY -- Devin Delbert Donald Blom, 21, of St. Cloud and formerly of Cosmos, made his first appearance Friday in Meeker County District Court on drug sale and possession charges. Blom is the man law enforcement officers searched for in a cornfield west of Grove City on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Blom is charged with a third-degree drug sale felony for selling 10 or more dosages of phencyclidine, and two fifth-degree drug possession felonies for possessing 2.5 grams of methamphetamine and 13 pounds of marijuana. He also faces a felony for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor for driving after suspension.

Unconditional bail was set at $200,000 by Judge Steven E. Drange.

According to the complaint, agents from the CEE-VI Drug Task Force were preparing to execute a search warrant at 28132 County Road 25 in Grove City around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday when agents saw Blom in a vehicle and recognized him. Two Litchfield police officers chased Blom's vehicle, with lights and sirens on, at speeds reaching 65 mph before the suspect bailed out of the vehicle and ran into a cornfield.

The warrant was served on the home and officers found marijuana, pills that tested positive as Ecstasy, meth, drug paraphernalia, cell phones with drug-related text messages, scales and drug books and magazines.

Outside of the home, officers found five marijuana plants, weighing 13 pounds, and 2.5 grams of meth, in an eyeglass case. A man living at the home told officers that Blom was staying there. Another man said that Blom had gotten him and his brother hooked on meth again.

Officers, including those in a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter, searched the cornfield for Blom on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Tips led officers back to the home, where Blom was arrested around 2 p.m. Wednesday. A total of $1,023 was found on him at that time.
