WILLMAR -- Barbara J. Carlson, 69, of Willmar died Thursday at her home in Willmar, after a three-month battle with cancer.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at a 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tabor Lutheran Cemetery in Strandburg, S.D.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
She was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Brookings County, S.D., to Rolland and Cecil (Mennis) Lane. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural school district 60 in Brookings County. The family moved to Brookings in 1949 and she graduated from Brookings High School in 1953. She attended nursing school at South Dakota State University.

She married Verne Carlson on Sept. 17, 1955, in Brookings. They lived in Pierre, S.D., and Albert Lea. They moved to Willmar in 1959.
She was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church, served on the altar guild and taught Sunday school. She was also a cub scout den mother.
She is survived by her husband; children: Julie (and Scott) Henry of Roseville, Lori (and Harold) Ketola of Independence, David of Willmar; four grandchildren; her mother; and one brother: Brian (and LaVon) Lane of Brookings, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her father.
