WILLMAR - The Barn Theatre in downtown Willmar announced Friday it has sold the property located to the north of the Barn building to Historic 313 LLC (the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota and Willmar Design Center).
Barn Theatre Board Chair Pam Klein said the building, more commonly known as Thrifty Snyder and Paffrath Jewelry, was purchased by the Barn 10 years ago.
At that time, the Barn Theatre needed a place to store the props and a shop to build sets for the stage, said Klein.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported that project as it served us well for many years,’’ Klein said.
Four years ago, Willmar Electric/the Chapin family sold the remainder of their building to the Barn Theatre.
“This enabled us to move everything to one main building,’’ Klein said.
She pointed out that the Barn Theatre continues to be located in what most people remember as the JC Penney building.
“Nothing with the Theatre has moved or changed,’’ Klein said. “It remains in the same building.’’
Klein said the board is happy to see expansion in the downtown and welcomes the new neighbors.
“This project will revitalize an old building and enhance the downtown with its prospective businesses,’’ Klein said.
