Baseball roundup: Monte three-run rally in sixth inning sinks Morris

MONTEVIDEO -- Montevideo rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to edge Morris Area 4-3 in West Central South Conference baseball action Monday.

The Thunder Hawks trailed 3-1, but got a lift from Tyler Grey, who highlighted the sixth inning with a two-run single to put Montevideo in the lead.

The Tigers held Montevideo to just three hits, two by James Gallagher.

Morris scored two runs in the first inning and another in the fifth.

The Tigers were also held to three hits. Craig Knochenmus led the way with two hits, including a triple, and two RBI.

Jon Altena picked up the win in relief. He pitched 1Xc innings, gave up two hits and struck out one. Tyler Kanten threw the seventh for the save.

Chase Rambow was tagged with the loss in relief.

LQPV's Eddie Massee drove in four runs and held Benson to two hits over five innings. He hit a double in three at bats, and struck out 10 while walking three.

Adam Paulson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored for the Eagles and Brock Kanstrup added two hits.

Four players had one single each for Benson.
