RAYMOND -- New London-Spicer bolted to a 4-0 lead after two innings and went on to dispatch MACCRAY 7-3 in a non-conference season opener at Lilleberg Field on Tuesday.
Leading 1-0 after one inning, the Wildcats' Scott Hjelle smacked a two-run single in the second, followed by a Jeremy Pickle to plate the third run of the inning.
The two teams combined for 17 hits, all singles. Tyler Steen went 4-for-4 for the Wolverines and Brock Madsen was 2-for-4.
MACCRAY's three errors led to five unearned runs for the Wildcats.
The win went to Pickle, who threw 3Zc innings in relief of Mike Danielson.

Wagner pitched the first six innings, allowing one run on three hits. Engelmann pitched the seventh inning, walking one batter.

Paynesville 15, Kimball 5
After falling into a 3-0 hole, defending Class AA champion Paynesville responded with six runs with one hit, five walks and two Kimball errors.
Six players had one hit each for the Bulldogs. Mark Andrie and Ryan Hess drove in two runs each.

Jamie Paul picked up the win, pitching six innings. He allowed three runs on four hits, struck out five and walked four.

The Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the sixth on a Tony Ludvigson's RBI ground out and an Evan Kraft RBI single. Ryan Sigdahl, who had allowed the Spartans to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the sixth, threw a scoreless seventh for the win.
Both starting pitchers were nearly flawless before each departed as scheduled in the season opener. Lac qui Parle Valley's Eddie Massee and Chokio-Alberta's Casey Quackenbush each threw three innings of no-hit, no-run baseball. Massee doubled and tripled for half of his team's hits.
