BATTLE LAKE - One man is in custody after shooting another man outside a Battle Lake bar early Sunday.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office reports that they, along with the Battle Lake Police Department, responded to the Rusty Nail Bar at 1:37 a.m. to a shooting. According to reports, the victim, identified as Phillip Kaste, 28, of Battle Lake was shot one time in the upper right chest with a pistol.
Authorities arrested Michael Spilde, 48, of Battle Lake a short time later at his home without incident. He is currently being held on attempted murder charges at the Otter Tail County Jail.
Kaste was life-flighted to Essentia Health in Fargo early Sunday morning.
Officials with Essentia say Kaste is currently listed in critical condition.
The incident remains under investigation.
