BECKER COUNTY, Minn. – A 5-year-old boy died Thursday evening in a farm accident south of Wolf Lake, Minn., according to the Becker County Sheriff’s Department.

It appeared the boy tried to get into a skid-steer loader by crawling between the bucket and the frame of the machine, the department said.

The loader was not running but was under hydraulic pressure. When the boy grabbed the control lever to pull himself up, the hydraulic pressure was released, pinning him between the hydraulic rams and the frame, the department said.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the farm about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The boy, whose name was not released, died at the scene.

The sheriff’s department identified his parents as Jethro and Molly Impola of rural Menahga.
