GLENWOOD -- A beet truck driver was pinned in the cab of his semi for nearly an hour following a rollover Wednesday afternoon in Pope County.

According to a news release from the Pope County Sheriff's Office, Candido Zelaya-Benitez, 39, of Willmar, was driving a semi loaded with beets that rolled at 1:30 p.m. on County Road 29 near 155th Avenue in Grove Lake Township of Pope County.

Zelaya-Benitez was pinned in the cab of the semi for nearly an hour as rescue workers worked at freeing him. A LifeLink III helicopter arrived at the scene and Zelaya-Benitez was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital. His condition is unknown, the Sheriff's Office said.

Responding to the call were the Pope County Sheriff's Office, Glenwood Police Department, Glenwood Fire Department, Glacial Ridge Ambulance, Villard Fire Department and First Responders, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and HillTop Lumber.
