MADISON -- Three days after a Bellingham woman disappeared, authorities are still puzzled as to where the woman may have gone.

Verene Raaf, 79, disappeared Tuesday night around 10 p.m. after receiving a blood transfusion at a Madison hospital. Authorities were alerted when Raaf did not answer repeated phone calls made to her home by nurses.

Air searches were conducted Wednesday over roads between Madison and Raaf's rural Bellingham home for any sign of her or her car. But air searches have since been grounded since poor weather conditions moved into the area Thursday morning.

Lac qui Parle County Sheriff Graylen Carlson said Friday morning that the department was following up on a few leads, but said none appeared to be really strong.

More of the focus has been put on watching Raaf's credit card for any new purchases and finding the tan Buick LeSabre she disappeared in. Carlson said air searches may resume today with volunteers from the Civil Air Patrol and other local pilots doing the searching.
