BENSON -- The Benson City Council will continue to work with the same engineering firm on city projects.
The council voted Monday to continue working with Bonestroo Inc., according to Benson City Manager Rob Wolfington. The city had invited other engineering firms to present information and offer proposals. The city and engineering firm will begin work on three projects, including an upgrade of the city's water filtering plant, work on the lift station next to Sandy's Cafe and three blocks of street and utility replacement along 11th Street South.
In other action:
- The City Council approved the second readings of amendments to the city's animal control and solid waste ordinance. The critter code changes update the city's ordinance to state law, including provisions for due process hearings and other requirements for when city officials confiscate an animal, Wolfington said.
The solid waste changes will prohibit placement of Dumpsters on city streets from November to April, addressing issues with snow removal.

- The City Council also approved giving an old city bus, a 16-passenger vehicle, to the developmental achievement center, Wolfington said. The city purchased a new bus, with three in service, and rather than sell the old bus as surplus for a low price, will give the bus to another agency.
