Todd Larson, a 1983 graduate of Benson High School where he was a three-sport athlete, coached the Minot, N.D., American Legion baseball team to the state championship on Sunday by beating Bismarck.
Minot (46-13) will play Omaha, Neb., at noon Thursday at Marshall in the quarterfinal-round of the Central Plains Regional.
It's the fourth regional appearance for the Minot team under Larson, including a state runner-up finish in 2001.
Larson is a Minot High School teacher and assistant baseball coach.
