SAUK RAPIDS -- Benson was unable to hang on to a slim halftime lead and succumbed to Rockford 87-74 in the third-place game at the Sauk Rapids Invitational this past weekend.
Benson (6-3), which played the tournament without starting post Jesse Holm to an infraction, led 41-39 at intermission. Rockford, behind Nick Haugen's 22 points, eventually pulled ahead late in the game.
Daniel Fragodt had 24 points for the Braves. Aaron Lindahl chipped in with 14 points.
