PAYNESVILLE — A Benson man was transported to the Paynesville hospital Friday evening after his vehicle hit a deer on Highway 23 south of Roscoe.

Brian Jerome Madden, 60, was taken to the CentraCare Health-Paynesville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

Madden was driving his Chevrolet pickup east on Highway 23 at the intersection with Stearns County Road 123 when it hit a deer at highway speed shortly before 9 p.m. The deer went through the windshield and out the back window, according to the State Patrol report.

The report says Madden was wearing his seat belt, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Ambulance assisted at the scene.
