BENSON - The Benson School Board voted Thursday to hire Dennis Laumeyer as the district’s new superintendent.

Laumeyer will also serve as high school principal, a position he has held for the last two years. He has been with Benson Public Schools for seven years - five years as Northside Elementary principal and two years as principal for grades 5-12.

Prior to that, he was a teacher in the Austin School District. He is a native of Long Prairie.

Laumeyer will succeed current Superintendent Lee Westrum, who is leaving to become superintendent of the Wadena-Deer Creek School District.

Laumeyer will begin his new position on July 1, pending the finalization of a contract.
