HANCOCK -- Despite not making a three-pointer, Benson had enough firepower to drop Hancock 62-52 in a non-conference game Thursda night.
The Braves (17-4) went 0-for-9 from long distance, but made up for it by edging the Owls by shooting 48 percent from the field, compared to 40 percent for Hancock.
The teams combined for just 25 fouls, which lead to few free throws for either team. The Braves made 6 of 9, while the Owls were 2 of 11.
Play was ragged in the first half, with both teams turning the ball over or missing shots in the paint.
But Benson, which held a 33-27 rebounding edge over the Owls, hung on for a 32-24 halftime lead and made it stick throughout the second half.

Daniel Fragodt paced Benson with 16 points. Joey Fragodt and Jesse Holm added 14 points each and Aaron Hagen finished with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Nathan Hacker scored 14 points for Hancock. Tanner Gramm added 11 points and Rick Foss pulled down seven rebounds.
