Bernice 'Lena' Hantho

APPLETON -- Bernice Helena "Lena" Hantho, 90, of Madison died June 24 at her daughter's home in rural Dawson.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Appleton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are by Zahrbock Funeral Home of Madison.

She was born April 20, 1918, in rural Hagen to Julius K. and Herborg Serena (Torgelson) Gunderson. She attended country school and graduated from Appleton High School in 1936. She attended the Ebenezer Hospital Training School for Nurses in Madison and graduated in 1938.
She married Murlyn Hantho on March 14, 1948, at Big Bend. They lived in Hantho Township, rural Madison. She worked in nursing until she retired in 1979.
She sang in the Zion Lutheran Church choir.
She is survived by two children: Leigh (and Jennifer) Hantho of Edina, and Ann (and Tim) Borstad of Dawson; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003, four sisters and six brothers.
