SACRED HEART -- Bernice Theresa Hardy, 91, of Sacred Heart died Wednesday at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements with Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Sacred Heart.
She was born Oct. 24, 1916, near Langford, S.D., to Martin and Bertha (Monsen) Nelson. She attended country school for eight years at District 13, Day County, Homer Township, and graduated from Langford High School in 1934.

She married Jens Hardy on Oct. 24, 1936, at Pierpont, S.D. They lived on a farm near Langford. In 1937, they moved to a farm near Sacred Heart. In 1998, she moved into Flynn Apartments in Sacred Heart. In 2003, she moved to Meadows on Main in Renville. She has been in the RenVilla Nursing Home since September 2006.
She was a member of Hawk Creek and Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where she was in the ladies aid and circle. She was also a member of the homemaker club and women's improvement club, Sons of Norway, Eastern Star and she assisted children in 4-H.
She is survived by her children: Earl Hardy, Beverly (and Myron) Lecy, Roger (and Sharon) Hardy, Evelyn (and Mornall) Elliot; a sister: Marion Anderson; grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; a daughter-in-law: Georgiana Hardy; two brothers; and a sister.
