WILLMAR -- A 21-year-old St. Paul man was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital by Willmar Ambulance Thursday after his leg was run over during an accident with a pickup.
Linden Gene McKinney was riding his bicycle north on the east sidewalk of First Street South near the Litchfield Avenue intersection around 3 p.m. Thursday when a 1996 Chevrolet pickup, traveling north on First Street, turned right onto Litchfield Avenue.
According to the incident report, the driver of the pickup -- Donovan Claus Slagter, 45, of Willmar -- turned right after stopping at the intersection but did not see McKinney crossing when Slagter proceeded on a green light. McKinney's bicycle collided into the side of the pickup and his leg was run over.
