WILLMAR -- Bids for installing a low-pressure sanitary sewer collection system around Lake Florida were opened Tuesday at the Kandiyohi County Board of Commissioners meeting. The bid also included installation of trunk lines from Lake Florida to the Green Lake Sanitary Sewer and Water District treatment facility near Spicer.
A decision was delayed until after the numbers in the bids are analyzed and the funding package is reviewed. A meeting and public hearing with Lake Florida residents will also be held before the project receives final approval. Those meetings will likely be held sometime in May.
The bids for the collection system ranged from $2.6 million to $3.6 million. The bids for the trunk lines ranged from $1.5 million to $1.8 million.
Both bids were higher than the engineer's estimates.
Also Tuesday, the commissioners awarded bids for a new vehicle storage and maintenance building for the Public Works Department.

The low bidder for constructing the building was Kue Contractors from Watkins, with a bid of $1,791,656.
The commissioners agreed to accept a construction bid that included prevailing wages, which was $84,656 higher than the low bid that did not require the prevailing wage provisions. Doing so will allow the county to use state financing, which will have financial benefits for funding county road projects, said Gary Danielson, Kandiyohi County public works director.
The low bid for the site work was Voss Plumbing & Heating from Paynesville for $291,091.
