Bike, truck crash injures local man

WILLMAR - A pickup truck crashed into a bicycle Tuesday morning in Willmar, sending a 53-year-old man to the hospital for injuries.
According to a news release from the Willmar Police Department, William H. Borcherdt, 68, of Willmar, was driving eastbound on Willmar Avenue when he tried to turn north and struck cyclist August E. Butorac, of Bloomington, who was crossing 15th Street Southwest.
Police were called to the scene around 8 a.m. Tuesday and determined that the rising sun was a visibility factor in the crash.
Butorac was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital by Willmar Ambulance for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Also responding to the accident were the Willmar Fire Department and Kandiyohi County Rescue.
