GRANITE FALLS - Fire figthers battled a stubborn house fire Wednesday night in Granite Falls. The blaze was located in rafters of the two-story home. Additions to the home also made it a difficult blaze to battle, according to Fire Chief Craig Opdahl.
Contrary to statements made at the scene, Opdahl said the firefighters did not have any difficulty accessing water from a hydrant near the home. The fire fighters connected each of the department's two pumpers to hydrants at either end of the block, and filled portable water tanks as a backup supply at the site.
The fire marshall was on the scene Thursday morning to determine its cause. No one was injured, but the home and its contents appear to be a total loss.
