STARBUCK -- Borghild Constance Marie Brenden Koland Engnes, 98, of Starbuck died Sunday at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Burial will be at Fron Lutheran Cemetery, rural Starbuck.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are by Starbuck Funeral Home.
She was born July 31, 1909, in White Bear Lake Township in Starbuck to John and Anna (Skaaden) Brenden. She grew up on a farm near Starbuck. She attended school in District 42 and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1929. She attended business training in Morris in 1930. She was a bookkeeper at Starbuck First National Bank and held various jobs in Starbuck. She was working at the Starbuck Bank when it was robbed at gunpoint in 1932.

She married Orlin Koland on Oct. 26, 1935. She retired at the age of 55. Orlin died in 1949.
She married Ervin Engnes on Oct. 16, 1968. Ervin died in 1982. For 10 years she lived with her daughter in Willmar. Then she moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.
She was a life member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck where she served on committees. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She served as an election judge and did a variety of community service work.
She is survived by her daughter: Laural Koland Rieckman; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings: Ruth Alberg, Helen Good, Loraine Gordhammer, Arden (and Pauline) Brenden, Ruth Brenden, and Sylvia Potter.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Sylvan Koland in 1937 and five siblings.
