Boys Basketball: ACGC stymies Kimball

GROVE CITY -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City started the second half of its non-conference boys basketball game against Kimball with a bang and rode it to a 61-48 win Friday.

Leading 24-18 at halftime, the Falcons (1-1) got back-to-back three pointers from Cullen Fischer.

Justin Schroeder led ACGC with 23 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Micah Nordin and Michael Martin added 11 each. Nordin also had nine rebounds.

The Jaguars (1-1) sank 11 three-pointers out of 15 field goals made, utilizing its speed against Paynesville's size to get the open shot.

Matt McCleary made four treys and scored 14 points to lead BBE. Josh Roelike had three 3-pointers for nine points, Jordan Weller added 13 points and Spencer Otteson had 10.

Cory Nietfeld scored a game-high 25 points for the Bulldogs (1-1) and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Morris Area (1-0, 1-1) hit all four of its three-pointers in the first half to build up a 19-point lead. Lac qui Parle Valley (0-1, 0-2) did get within five late, but the Eagles couldn't overcome shooting only 34 percent from the field.

Justin Lund and Tyler Wiegman both had 13 points to lead a balanced attack for the Tigers. Wiegman also supplied 10 rebounds and three assists while Craig Knochenmus amassed nine points and nine rebounds.

The Eagles got a game-high 18 points from Brady VanderVelde and nine points, five assists and three steals from Adam Paulson.

Jordan Dahl got 15 points for the Blackjacks, who shot 36 percent to Canby's 55 percent.

The Blackjacks' Dutch Hansen added eight points, Ian Hanson seven and Matt Wold six points and eight rebounds.
