BENSON -- Benson's aggressive offensive style and defense overcame a poor shooting night for a 62-48 West Central South boys basketball win over Morris Tuesday.
The Braves (1-0, 3-0) shot 39 percent (23 of 59) from the field and made only 12 of 25 free throws overall. But continually pressing to the basket and grabbing 14 offensive rebounds, plus forcing 17 Morris turnovers led to a lead as big as 20 points in the second half.
Daniel Fragodt scored a game-high 28 points for the Braves. Brett Collins added 10 points and Eric Lee grabbed nine boards.
Craig Knochenmus tallied 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Tigers (0-1, 1-2). Leading scorer Taylor Witt was held to six points.
