BENSON -- Benson held off the Morris Tigers in the second half to capture an important West Central South Conference win 68-66 on Tuesday.
Benson (6-2, 10-3) stayed within striking distance of Montevideo (7-0, 14-1), which defeated BOLD Tuesday night, in the South race.
Soon after Benson's Joey Fragodt fouled out with 20 points, the Tigers cut into the Braves 12-point lead, shaving it to three with nine minutes left.
But Benson held on by converting free throws down the stretch.
Tyler Guest and Daniel Fragodt also had 20 points each for Benson.

Taylor Witt led Morris (4-4, 5-9) with 19 points. Andy Lembcke ahd 10 points and Tyler Wiegman nine points and 11 rebounds.

Tyler Grey netted a game-high 31 points for Montevideo (7-0, 13-1) as the Thunder Hawks shot 67 percent (22-for-33) from inside the three-point arc.

The Thunder Hawks also got 19 points from Tramel Barnes, 15 points and 10 rebounds from Jon Altena and 10 points from Todd Bergeson.
Jacob Brustuen had 19 points, Zach Marcus 12 and Ben Saunders 10 to pace the Warriors.

Josh Cunningham hit a three-pointer on a quick inbound pass to lift the Falcons (3-5, 8-6) to the win.

The Sting (4-4, 9-7) led 34-29 at halftime, but ACGC rolled its second-half momentum into the overtime.
ACGC's Micah Nordin led all scorers with 28 points. Michael Martin added 26, including four 3-pointers.
For YME, Luke Berg scored 23 points, Casey Luepke 22 and Shawn Neu hit five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points.
