Boys Basketball: Bergeson paces Montevideo rout of Minnewaska, 82-50

GLENWOOD -- Montevideo held Minnewaska to 18 second-half points, which was more than enough to stay unbeaten in the West Central South boys basketball race Thursday.

The Thunder Hawks (8-0, 14-2) won, 82-50.

Todd Bergeson's 21 points paced four Montevideo players with double figures in scoring. Tyler Grey followed with 19, Tramel Barnes had 11 and Eric Brandon 10.

Pierce Peters scored 14 points and had nine rebounds for the Lakers (4-4, 7-7). Mike Anderson added 10 points and John Wedum eight.

BOLD's balanced attack was spearheaded by Reid Neubauer's 15 points and Craig Gartner's double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds enabled the Warriors (3-6, 5-10) to beat Yellow Medicine East (1-7, 1-10) for the second time.

Neubauer also collected seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Andrew Walters led YME in scoring with nine points. Tadd Berg and Taylor Tollefson had seven points each.

Baxter DuFrane's two free throws sent the game into overtime and then he cashed 8-of-12 free throws in overtime to lead LQPV (2-6, 6-7). He finished with 23 points, hitting 15-of-21 free throws.

Zach Ronglien added 19 points and five steals for the Eagles.

Morris was led by Lincoln Arnold with 22 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Cory Hennen chiped in with 16 points, Jackson Henrich had 14 and and Chris Scott 12.

Kurtis Huisman came off the bench and scored all 17 of his points in the second half to fuel the Falcons' win.
