Boys Basketball: Buffalo Lake-Hector sinks CMCS, 67-57

HECTOR -- Buffalo Lake-Hector opened up an 18-point lead in the second half, then nearly lost the lead before holding off Central Minnesota Christian 67-57 in a non-conference boys basketball game Tuesday night.

The Bluejays (2-20) cut the deficit it to four points before BLH (9-16) held them off.

Andy Kalenberg led BLH with 17 points. Jordan Nelson, who made four 3-pointers, followed with 16 and Jake Deal added 14.

Mike Schwitters recorded a game-high 26 points for CMCS. Jordan Zondervan added 13 points and Jordan Daugherty 12.

Calvin Pehle's basket with one minute remaining proved to be the winning basket as Litchfield (9-13) upended the Flyers (13-9).

Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted came from behind in the second half to edge the Jaguars, who started five sophomores for the fifth game in a row.

Jackson Illies led the Jaguars with 21 points and Shane Weller followed with 19 points. Jared McCleary chipped in eight rebounds and 11 points and Jordan Beier also reached double figures with 10.

Aaron Stueven, who hit the tieing bucket at 71-71, finished with 17 points for the Lakers.
