Boys Basketball: CMCS creates logjam in Camden North race

KERKHOVEN -- Central Minnesota Christian School created a logjam on top of the Camden North Conference Friday as the Bluejays knocked Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg off the top of the standings by posting a 72-66 win.

KMS (3-2, 6-4) was alone on top of the loop entering the game, but after the loss five teams are virtually tied for first. CMCS, KMS, MACCRAY and Lakeview are all 3-2 and Canby is 2-2.

Adam Mikelson and Brian Nelson both netted 18 points for the Bluejays (3-2, 5-3). Shean Gerdes followed with 11.

Justin Johnson led a group of four players that scored in double figures for KMS with 16 points. Jason Fernholz trailed with 14 while Grant Johnson and Jared Johnson both had 10. Fernholz completed a double-double with 12 rebounds.

MACCRAY 73, Dawson-Boyd 42

Matt Condon piled up 12 points, 12 rebounds and five assists while Matt Leese led the scoring attack with 15 points to ignite MACCRAY (3-2, 5-4).

The Wolverines shot 62 percent (26-for-42) from the field and made 18 free throws compared to only two for Dawson-Boyd (2-3, 3-6).

Jordan Dahl had 17 points and Colin Lee followed with 10 to pace the Blackjacks.
