GROVE CITY -- Eden Valley-Watkins held off Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 63-58 on Monday in a boys basketball match of the Section 5AA football finalists in November.
After averaging 94 points in two wins last weekend, the Falcons offense was blunted by the Eagles' big, strong and athletic defenders.
The Eagles held a six- to-10-point lead much of the game, though the Falcons closed to one at halftime, 26-25, and got the gap down to four in the last minute. But EVW made 7-of-8 free throws when it counted.
Kyle Tschumperlin, who quarterbacked the Eagles football team past ACGC, led all scorers with 17 points.
Joel Slinden led the Falcons with 16. ACGC shot 34 percent overall and made 4-of-19 three-pointers.
