MONTEVIDEO -- After owning a 48-28 edge in rebounding and Jon Altena's double-double, Montevideo remained unbeaten on the season by upending Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 70-61 in the West Central South Tuesday.
Altena piled up 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Thunder Hawks, who owned a slim 31-27 lead at halftime. Zach Bothun scored the first eight points of the second half for Montevideo (2-0, 7-0), but the Falcons (1-2, 5-3) would take a four-point lead midway through the half. Montevideo then took control at the free-throw line.
Tyler Grey trailed Altena with 18 points while Bothun finished with 14. Trammel Barnes amassed 10 rebounds and six assists while Bothun and Brady Johnson both hooked nine rebounds.
Michael Martin sank a game-high 22 points for ACGC, which also got 14 points from Micah Nordin and 10 more from Josh Cunningham.

R.J. Strand scored 12 of his game-high 18 points in the first half as the Eagles built a 40-20 advantage at intermission.
BOLD came out in the second half on a 10-0 run to whittle the deficit to 10 points, but the Warriors would get no closer.
Brady VanderVelde added 17 points for the Eagles (5-2< while Adam Paulson and Andrew Schmidt had 10 apiece.

Luke Berg's 30-foot shot with five seconds left in the first overtime pushed the momentum to YME's side and the Sting outscored Morris 13-5 in the second extra period.
The Tigers (2-1, 2-5) missed the shot at the buzzer to win the game in regulation.

Berg finished with 18 points to lead the Sting (2-1, 6-2). Joey Coubal posted 17 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double and David Skjefte also had 17 points.
Taylor Witt scored a game-high 28 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Tigers. Andy Lembcke and Tyler Wiegman posted double-doubles; Lembcke had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Wiegman had 12 points and 10 boards.
