NEW LONDON -- Junior post Wade Powers scored 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead New London-Spicer to a 54-49 win over Litchfield, which was playing its first game of the season on Friday.
The Wildcats (2-1) led by one point at halftime and by as many as six in the second half when they sank 17-of-23 free throws.
Jordan Radel added 12 points for NLS and Matt Dreier 10. Skylar Wachtler pulled in eight rebounds.
The Dragons got balanced scoring, led by Peter Zender with 14, Mike Bruesewitz 11 and Kent Johnson nine. Zender also made six assists.
