BIRD ISLAND -- Yellow Medicine East opened up its offense in the second half, pulling away from BOLD for a 52-40 victory in West Central South boys basketball action Friday.
The Sting (2-0, 5-0) held a 19-16 advantage at halftime, the outscored the Warriors (0-2, 1-4) 33-24 in the second half.
Dylan Hempel led Yellow Medicine East with 16 points. Shawn Neu sank all of the Sting's five 3-pointers for his 15 points. Kenton Johnson and Casey Luepke grabbed 10 rebounds each. Luepke had nine points and Johnson eight.
Reid Neubauer led BOLD (0-2, 1-4) in scoring with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. He also had four assists. Justin Fahse pulled down 11 boards to go along with his eight points.
