ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud Apollo scored three goals in the third period to erase a 2-1 Willmar lead and send the Cardinals to their fourth straight Central Lakes Conference loss, 4-2, on Tuesday at the MAC.
"They came at us harder and our guys backed off," said Willmar coach Reed Larson of the Eagles' rally. "We looked intimated."
After a scoreless first period, Apollo scored first in the middle period on a tally by Chad Hockmeyer.
Josh Aslesen broke the ice for Willmar with a high shot to the short side over the glove of Apollo goalie Dan Ritter. Joel Jonsson assisted. Griffin Leitch followed with a similar shot and goal, this one unassisted, for a 2-1 lead at 14:07 of the second stanza.
Kevin Maxfield made 18 saves in the Willmar net. The Cardinals put 27 shots on Ritter.

Reed Larson is now 0-4-1 against his older brother Greg, the head coach at St. Cloud Apollo.

(At Richmond) -- The Stars Mike Lahr's goal tied the game 1-1 at 6:33 of the first period but the rest of the scoring was all by the St. Cloud Tech Tigers. Brian Skluzacek faced 66 shots compared to 13 by Tech goalie Cole Reynolds.
